One of our historically defining characteristics is to be both hearers and doers of God's Word, the Holy Bible. You might say that "Bible" is our middle name! We believe that once the Bible is in place as the sole and absolute authority for life and practice, our church will be best situated to honor God.

We are governed by a Council of Elders, a group of men chosen by the congregation to serve the church in administration and care. Only men who meet the qualifications found in 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Tit. 1:5-9 are considered eligible to serve in this honorable and challenging ministry. Additionally, IBC has a full-time pastor, who is considered the lead-servant among equals on the Council of Elders. Since we believe each individual follower of Jesus is of equal value and standing before God based on their faith in Christ Jesus alone (see our statement of faith), we believe that each member of IBC has a voice in how we serve and conduct our ministry, yet we entrust much of the work of administration, care, and teaching to the men the congregation identifies as set apart by God for this work.

Historically, IBC was founded by the International Mission Board (IMB-Southern Baptists) to serve the English-speaking community in the Greater Buenos Aires area. When the IMB chose to move out of English-speaking ministries, IBC chose to continue as an independent church, even changing the name from "International Baptist Church" to the current "International Bible Church." Though we are non-denominational and depend solely on the gifts and offerings of current attenders to sustain ourselves, we still remain associated with the Argentine Baptist Confederation as well as the International Baptist Conference for the purpose of mutual support.
